the direct line from Pierre Rondeau, who was one of the first Rondeau in Canada in
1663, to my mother, Denise Rondeau.
Jean Rondeau, from Marsilly, La Charente Maritime, France,
married Jacqueline Pellereau.
They had 6 children: Jean, Louise, Catherine, Jeanne, Pierre and Michel.
1: Pierre Rondeau, was born and baptised on 6 July 1642.
He arrived in Nouvelle-France in 1663.
He established himself at St-Jean Ile D'Orléan in 1667.
He had received a concession (allotment) from Monseigneur de Laval of 3.5 arpents (old French measuring unit, approximately 0.85 acre) of land.
Pierre married Catherine Verrier, she was born in 1650, daughter of Jean and Agnès Briquet of St-Pierre de Courtils, Normandie, France, on 30 September 1669 at Ste-Famille, Ile D'Orléan.
Pierre and Catherine had 5 children:
Françoise, born in 1672, Elizabeth Isabelle Marie, born on 5 October 1673, Marie Madeleine, born on 9 April 1676, Pierre, born on 17 May 1679 and Catherine, born 20 October 1682.
Catherine, Pierre`s wife died in the spring of 1683, she drowned in the St-Lawrence River.
Pierre remarried on 5 September 1683 to Marie Asselin (or Anselin), born in 1669, daughter of René Asselin (or Anselin) and Marie Juin.
Pierre and Marie had 4 children: Étienne, born the 13 March 1685, Marthe, born the 16 January 1687, died on the 13 February 1687, Jean Baptiste Nicolas, born the 4 June 1688 and Joseph, born the 1 November 1690.
Pierre died on the 24
Jannuary 1692.
2: Joseph Rondeau,was born on 1 November 1690 at St-Jean Ile
d`Orléans, Québec.
He married in 1718 at St-Ours, Québec,
Marie Passerieux Bonnefond, born in 1692, daughter of Pierre Passerieu Bonnefond and Marie-Thérèse Desmarais.
Joseph and Marie had 9 children: Marie Josephe, born in 1717, Jeanne-Marguerite-Angélique, born the 24 February 1719, Marie-Ursule, born the 29 September 1721,
Marie-Madeleine-Antoinette,born the 21 April 1724, Joseph, born the 24 April 1726, Marie-Louise, born the 3 July 1728, Marie-Marguerite, born the 4 November 1730, François, born the 14 March 1733 and
Marie Charlotte, born the 24 November 1736.
3: Joseph Rondeau, was born on the 24 April 1726 at Contrecœur,
Verchères, Québec.
He married at St-Ours, on 8 January 1753,
Marie Josephe Emery Coderre. She was born on 31 December 1736 at Contrecoeur, Québec.
Joseph and Marie Josephe had 8 children: Joseph, born the 24 September 1753, Marie Josephe, born the 13 March 1755, Françoise Marie, born the 30 September 1756,
Antoine,born the 2 November 1758, Marie Marguerite, born the 18 September 1760, Marie Louise, born the 7 August 1762, died on the 6 December 1763, Pierre Paul,born the 30 March 1765 and Gabriel, born in 1766, died on the 28 March 1770.
Joseph Rondeau died in March 1767 and was buried the 2 March at St-Ours, Québec.
4: Antoine Rondeau, was born on the 2 November 1758.
He married on 12 January 1789 at
Baie-du-Fèvre, Québec, Marie Anne Côté, daughter of François Côté and Marie Anne Lafrenière.
Antoine and Marie Anne had 7 children: Marie Charlotte, born the 14 November 1789, Marie Anne, born the 15 July 1791, Marie Marguerite, born the 1 May 1793,
Pierre, born the 7 December 1794, Marie Geneviève, born the 24 September 1796, Antoine, born the 29 July 1798, François, born ?.
It is possible that they may have been two more sons: Amable and Joseph.
5: Pierre Rondeau,was born on 7 December 1794.
He married on 1 february 1825 at
Boucherville, Québec, Marie Anne Babin Lacroix.
They had 9 children:
Zoé, born the 1 May 1825, Pierre, born the 30 May 1828, Eustache, François Xavier,
Narcisse, Tharsille, Ubald Antoine, born the 20 May 1830, Joseph, born in 1839 and
Jean-Baptiste, born in 1832 and died in 1903.
6: Jean Baptiste Rondeau, was born in 1832 and died in 1903.
He married on 5 April 1853 at
Mont-St-Grégoire, Iberville, Québec, Constance
L`Homme, daughter of Antoine L`Homme and Marie Choquette.
They had 3 children: Jean-Baptiste, born the 30 August 1870 and died in 1951, Joseph and Bonaventure-Arthur.
7: Jean-Baptiste Rondeau, was born on 30 August and died in 1951.
He married Georgiana L`Homme, on 2 June 1896 at
Ste-Brigide, Iberville, Québec.
She was born on 13 April 1875 and died in 1952.
She was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste L'Homme and Marie Lasnier.
Georgiana was the daughter of Constance`s nephew.
So Constance (Georgiana`s mother in law) was her Great Aunt.
Jean Baptiste and Georgiana had 8 children: Alice, born 10 November 1911, Agapit, born 1901 and died on the 2 June 1980, Arthur, born the 24 November 1902 and died on the 22 April 1993, Armande, born 1904 and died the 12 June 1979
Armanzo, born the 11 January 1911 and died on 25 October 1988, Berthe, born on 11 December 1913 and died on 6 December 1978, Zoel, died in 1998 and Jeanne, born on 21 January 1920.
8: Arthur Rondeau was born on 24 November 1902 at Mont-St-Grégoire, Iberville,
Quebec.
He died on 22 April 1993.
He married on 1 October 1932 at Mont-St-Grégoire,
Iberville, Quebec, Lucienne Barrière,daughter of Thomas Barrière and Marie Boucher.
She was born on 1 December 1904 and died on 1 August 1991.
Arthur and Lucienne had 6 children:
(1): Jean-Guy André, born the 12 July 1933, died the 20 August 1971. He married on 4 June 1955, Marthe Roy, born 8 August 1934.
They had 3 children: Pierre, Dany and Guylaine.
(2): Denise Marielle Lucie, born the 28 September 1934.
(3): Pierrette, born the 23 November 1936. She married on 5 October 1957, Jean-Guy England, born 31 August 1932.
They had 2 children: Edith and Yves.(4): Marcel, born the 20 February 1938. He married on 9 September 1961, Ghislaine Roy, born the 8 July 1939.
They had 3 children: Stéphane, Clodelle and Paule.
(5): Ruth, born the 10 April 1940. She married on 6 October 1962, Jacques Denommée, born 4 April 1934.
They had 3 children: Sophie, Éric and Julie.
(6): Lucette, born the 27 March 1943, died on 15 October 1987. She married on 15 August 1964, Serge Roy, born 27 June 1942.
They had 2 children: Martin and Sonia.
Serge and Ghislaine (Marcel`s wife) are brother and sister.
9: Denise Marielle Lucie Rondeau was born on the 28 of september 1934 at Mont-St-Grégoire,
Iberville, Quebec.
She died on 17 March 2005 in Marieville, Quebec and is buried in Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Rouville, Quebec.
She married, on the 6 of may 1961, Pierre
Guertin . He was
born on the 19 of January 1934 at Beloeil, Quebec. He died on the 6 of April 2003 at Laval, Quebec. He was the son
of Nöel Guertin and Simone Brais.
Pierre and Denise had 3 children: Luke, Pascal (myself) and Robert.
